University Libraries
$780,000
If voters approve General Obligation Bond B, the University of New Mexico Libraries will get funding over the next two years to buy books and journals. Dean of University Libraries Martha Bedard says the libraries at UNM count on the money to help acquire the materials students need to keep up with the latest developments in their fields of study. Without money from the bonds, UNM Libraries would have to significantly cut the amount of books, journals and other materials purchased each year.
In addition to students, members of the community regularly access the electronic materials and borrow books. This spring UNM faces a national accreditation team. The teams look at how well university libraries are supported as an element in the accreditation of the university.
