UNM Biology Building Renovation and Expansion

The expansion of the UNM Biology Department will provide state-of- the-art laboratories in which our students will receive high quality education and training in modern research techniques. UNM Biology is a major gateway for students seeking to secure good paying jobs in medicine, allied health sciences, research, environmental sciences, government service and many other occupations. The department also generates $8 - $14 million annually in research funds, with every research dollar estimated to be multiplied more than threes times as it ripples through the local economy. Building construction also has a strong beneficial effect in creating local jobs and supporting the construction industry. The benefits for New Mexico’s citizens and the New Mexico economy will be both immediate and long term.
