UNM HSC Neurological Research Building

$4,500,000

The new UNM Health Sciences Center Neurobiology Building will greatly strengthen the integration of the neurobiology scientific community, which includes neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, neurosciences, and pharmacy. The expansion of the building will enable multiple programs to be housed in a unique, state-of-the-art center for animal and imaging research on overlapping disease mechanisms and translational clinical research programs. This integration of the neurobiology community in one center will foster collaborations among this group of talented and highly motivated researchers and will complement the School of Medicine’s commitment to the development of a strong, cohesive Clinical Translational Science Center with a strong neuroscience component.

The UNM Health Sciences Center’s Neurobiology Building will advance collaborative, multidisciplinary research programs. The building will gain identity and focus through strong community based disease-prevention programs addressing major illnesses, including stroke, schizophrenia, brain injury, epilepsy, neuro-rehabilitation of children, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disease, substance abuse, obesity and diabetes.
