unm los alamos

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Renovation of the Student Services and Success Center to provide a single-stop for enrollment services and student affairs programs. Programs housed in this building support students, including admissions, career development, graduation, employment, and transfer. By physically connecting the Learning Resource Center (LRC) to Student Services and creating an integrated space to provide better opportunities for interaction among students, staff, and faculty as well as wrap-around support in one location. The upgrades will transition the space from a transactional center to an interactive space that will create a deeper sense of campus community.

This space will provide students with wrap-around services that can improve their chances of persisting and increasing their chances of earning a certificate or associate degree. With services building available within proximity, and even within the same building, students will have access to the combination of academic, personal, and financial supports that will support an increase in student retention overall.

The renovation will improve energy efficiencies, renew or replace exterior and interiors including furniture, equipment, and technology, replace the roof, and add solar panels.  The project will also address ADA issues to bring the facility up to current code requirements including restrooms, kitchenette, height of cubicle counters, and the main entry into the building.
